May saw Sharpham winning several awards for its cheese in various competitions, including a new one which we haven't entered previously!
We always have excellent results at the Devon County Show, and this year was no exception, with our classic Sharpham winning Best Soft Cheese. We also won 1st prizes for our Cremet in three categories, adding to its prestigious Supreme Champion Product at last years Taste of the West Awards! Our sheep and mixed milk cheeses Washbourne and Savour also did well, showing a growing interest in these newer cheeses.
We also had good results at the British Cheese Awards, our Ticklemore Goat cheese doing particularly well with two silvers and our Washbourne with caraway, another new(ish) sheeps milk cheese also picking up a silver.
Finally this month our Savour won the "Protein Power" category in the Veggie Awards. This had a panel of celebrity judges, with our category judged by food writer and chef Anna Jones, and further details of this will be appearing in the July issue of Veggie Magazine. All of the cheeses we make here at Sharpham are vegetarian and have been for 37 years so its great to be recognised in these awards.
We have the International, Global and World Cheese Awards to look forward to later this year, so watch this space!
