Vineyards in Devon

English wine is booming and there is no sign of things slowing down with many more scheduled vineyard plantings across the country for 2023, including our own new 8 acre planting that will go ahead this May on a site next to our main 26 acre Sandridge Barton vineyard, putting our total acreage up to 42 acres across our three neighbouring sites!

There are currently around 900 vineyards in the UK and there has been a 70% increase in the last five years alone! There aren't quite as many producers as there are growers just yet, with the number of wineries sitting just shy of 200. As a grower-producer ourselves, with our own vines and state-of-the-art winery, we carry out every single process from hand-picking the grapes, right through to disgorging the sparkling wine (removing the dead yeast sediment) to bottling and labelling, meaning we can carefully control every single part of the process to ensure the highest quality.

Devon is certainly making its mark on the industry with 15 vineyards now signed up to local Devon vineyard collective 'Vineyards of Devon'. For those interested in learning more about wine tasting experiences and vineyard tours in Devon, this is a great website to explore what our region has to offer!

With the popularity in vineyard plantings and wine production increasing, so too is the desire to drink more English wine and learn about the producers, so wine tourism has also increased dramatically. For anyone who has ever visited us before, you'll know we welcome everyone to see first hand how we make wine from start to finish on numerous wine tours and tastings we run daily. We strive to offer the best wine tasting experience in Devon and maybe the best wine tastings in England!

For those wishing to learn about our processes from start to finish, we recommend our Guided Tasting which will be led by one of our in house wine experts. You'll taste taste different wines, learn about our history, go through the production processes of each wine from start to finish and explore the winery too. For a more casual offering, our Self-Guided Tastings are perfect. You select your own wines and taste with a booklet of tasting notes, giving you the chance to sit back and experience the range with your friends in a more leisurely manner.

If you're wondering 'where are the best vineyards near me?' and want to learn more about the wines we produce, the English wine industry and of course Devon vineyards and wine, then come and see us at our brand-new winery visitor centre for a wine tour and tasting, or even lunch at our vineyard restaurant, Circa.
