Tucked away on the tranquil banks of the River Dart in South Devon, our lovingly restored 1850s Boathouse offers the perfect hideaway for those seeking peace, nature, and a touch of adventure.
Your journey begins as you wind through the picturesque Sandridge Barton Vineyard. We’ll meet you on arrival to whisk your luggage down to the water’s edge—either by Land Rover or on foot via a scenic 0.5km stroll through ancient Beech woodland.
As you descend the 71 steps to the Boathouse, the river reveals itself in all its glory—uninterrupted views, birdsong, and the gentle lapping of the tide. Inside, you’ll find a cosy, characterful space designed for slow mornings, long lunches, and evenings under the stars.
Whether you're here to switch off, reconnect, or explore the South Devon coast, the Boathouse is your gateway to something truly special.
Step through the door into a bright, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space where floor-to-ceiling French windows span the width of the Boathouse. These frame breathtaking, panoramic views of the River Dart and open out onto a private balcony—perfect for morning coffee or evening barbecues with the water as your backdrop.
Downstairs also features a second bathroom tucked away at the rear for added convenience.
Upstairs, you’ll find two beautifully appointed bedrooms:
Home comforts include:
Extras: Bed linen and towels provided. Cot and highchair available on request. Barbecue on the balcony for al fresco dining.
Kitchen: Fully equipped with microwave, fridge, freezer, washer-dryer, dishwasher, and electric cooker.
Living area: Dining table for four, TV, Wi-Fi and a cosy wood burner.
While you're staying at the Boathouse, you're welcome to explore the beautiful surroundings of the Sandridge Barton estate. Please do take care—this is a working vineyard and farm, so we kindly ask that you steer clear of outbuildings and farm machinery.
Just 2km away lies the charming village of Stoke Gabriel, where you’ll find cosy pubs, a well-stocked village store, and a waterside restaurant perfect for a relaxed meal.
Further afield, there’s plenty to discover:
Whether you're in the mood for coastal walks, vineyard tastings, or a bit of local history, the Dart Valley is full of hidden gems waiting to be explored.
