Introducing some new additions to our ‘Don’t Feed The Ponies’ range!

Our ‘Don’t Feed The Ponies’ range consists of a small-batch of experimental wines where we try alternative methods to get unique characters out of our Dart Valley grown grapes. It is a low intervention range, where we monitor the ferments rather than manipulate them. The name came from a poster our head winemaker’s daughter designed at school for the campaign to stop feeding the wild ponies on Dartmoor.

Each wine is named after one of Dartmoor’s many Tors. We donate 25p per bottle to the DPA (Dartmoor Preservation Association) to give back to our amazing national park. We want to ensure the best and most sustainable future for the moorland where the River Dart sources, before ultimately influencing the climate in our vineyard.

‘Figgie Daniel’ Col Fondo 2022

An energetic wine with a lively spritz. This wine is unfiltered and unfined and contains the lees in the bottle. Col Fondo means 'with the bottom' in Italian, referring to the leftover lees sediment. This is the method in which Prosecco was produced previously, and is now regaining popularity.

This wine is light and spritzy with green apple, lemon rind, elderflower and yeasty characters. We recommend a gentle shake before serving to distribute the sediment.

‘Lizwell’ Col Fondo 2022

This wine is produced in the same way as our Figgie Daniel - just with a different grape variety. This wine is fruity and fizzy with sour cherry, raspberry, strawberry and yeasty characters. We also recommend a gentle shake of this bottle before serving to distribute the sediment.

‘Billy’ Pinot Blend 2022

A super light red wine with aromas of tart red berries, red apple and blackcurrant. The palate is light and delicate with flavours of sour cherry and cranberry, this is then supported by a focused acidity and fine tannins. Chill this bottle down and treat it like a cross between a red and rosé!
