Celebrate the Arrival of Our New Release 2024!
The wait is over—our New Release 2024 is here, celebrating the best of this year’s harvest! Released annually on the third Thursday of November, this wine rivals Beaujolais Nouveau and is a cornerstone of our winery’s celebrations, complete with a feast to mark the occasion.
Crafted in just six weeks from vine to bottle, the 2024 vintage is a vibrant blend:
All components were spontaneously fermented in stainless steel, with only a light filtration before bottling. The result? A wine brimming with zesty lemon, juicy pear, ripe peach, and floral elderflower, all complemented by clean, citrus-driven acidity and a subtle spritz.
2024 may not go down as a classic English summer, but its challenges brought out the best in our team. Warm temperatures were paired with persistent rain, leaving little time for the canopy to dry and increasing the risk of fungal disease. To combat this, we focused heavily on canopy management and crop thinning, ensuring we concentrated flavours despite the weather.
Yields were notably lower, which wasn’t unexpected after 2023’s record-breaking harvest. The reduced crop allowed the vines to focus on ripening fewer grapes to a higher quality, resulting in fruit with excellent concentration.
Harvest began on 27th September, spanning nearly four weeks of meticulous, hand-harvesting. Careful sorting ensured only the best fruit made it to the press, despite some challenges with fungal disease.
Post-fermentation tastings have us feeling optimistic. While quantities are lower than in recent years, the wines show levels of ripeness reminiscent of the outstanding 2020 vintage. We’re excited about the potential in both tank and barrel!
Our New Release is now available online and at our cellar door shop. It’s drinking beautifully, offering a glimpse into the quality and character of this year’s harvest—a must-try for wine lovers.
