Sustainability

Regenerative environmental practices are woven into everything we do at Sandridge Barton. As proud members of Sustainable Wines of Great Britain and participants in the higher-level Countryside Stewardship Scheme, we’re committed to nurturing the land we farm.

Across the estate, we’re actively working to protect native plant and wildlife species while ensuring our agricultural approach remains gentle and non-invasive. This includes planting trees, creating wildflower meadows, and installing bird and bat boxes to support rare species.

We’ve banned the use of pesticides and herbicides, and from 2025, we’ll stop under-vine tilling altogether. Instead, we’re increasing cover crop plantings to naturally manage weeds and enrich the soil.

In the winery, all fermentations are spontaneous, relying solely on indigenous yeasts from the vineyard. It’s all part of our wider goal: to regenerate soil health, support biodiversity, and produce wines that are truly expressive of our land.

Our new winery and visitor buildings have been designed with sustainability in mind, featuring solar panels, rainwater harvesting, air source heat pumps, an aerobic digestion waste system, and spring water extraction used throughout the site. These measures help us further reduce our carbon footprint while creating a space that reflects our values.
